Mates in Bowls is a fun way to spend a summer evening
On Tuesday evenings during the summer friends, family, work mates, and college pupils get a team together
for leisurely games of Lawn Bowls.
The Club has been enjoying Mates in Bowls for several years and we can register up to 32 teams.
Season 2025 – 2026
Mates in Bowls is on for the coming season and demand is strong with most of the teams keen to turn up again. MiB provides a relaxing, sociable evening in a lovely garden setting where it doesn’t really matter if you are a good, not so good, or nearly hopelss bowler.
The games format for the coming 2025 – 2026 season will likely stay the same but the starting dates are under review.
Starting in Spring is difficult and the weather often beats us with the greens getting washed out.
Bowls are provided, with team prizes, free tea and coffee.
Play starts at 6.00pm sharp and teams turn up from 5.30 to order BBQ sausages and purchase Raffle tickets (optional). The bar is open.
MiB players also get invites to other social bowling events held at the Club over summer.
Registration
You can register as a team or as individuals. For the latter we will help you make up teams who will play together for the block.
The fee (yet to be set) is per team of 4 per block (before Xmas / after Xmas) payable with registration.

The Summer of 2025
Xmas came and went and MiB got underway at the start of February. Fine evenings and full greens with lots of players and lots of new faces enjoying themselves. This was the first season since Covid that the playing numbers were back to full.
The organisers had a refreshed competition format and the rolling cumulative game points on the big screen started to show the teams with the competitive drive.
Who
Organise friends, work-mates, family members or College pupils to enjoy some good company and relaxed competition on the greens.
Youngsters are welcome but need to be teens (12+ or so) … the bowling balls are adult size and may be heavy for youngsters.
Never played before ? … doesn’t matter … you’ll learn in 5 minutes or less. Don’t have a team ? … doesn’t matter … we’ll find you one. All you need is some flat shoes.
