Mates in Bowls

Mates in Bowls sponsored by Forsyth Barr

Mates in Bowls is a fun way to spend a summer evening

On Tuesday evenings during the summer people get a team together for three leisurely games, each about thirty minutes long. We light the barbecue, and when the bowling is over, everyone gets a hamburger and salad, a chance for a prize if your team wins some games, and a chance at the raffles.

The Club has been enjoying Mates in Bowls for several years and we regularly get twenty to thirty teams turning up to play and socialise.

Our Mates in Bowls Programme starts in the last week of October and runs for 6 weeks on a Tuesday evening. There’s a break over Xmas, and we start towards the end of January on a Tuesday, and running for 6 weeks. Play starts at 6.00 pm and teams turn up around 5.30 for a rollup. MiB players also get invites to other social bowling events held at the Club over summer.

You can register as a team or as individuals. For the latter we will make up teams. The fee is $15.00 per player per night and on first attendance you are signed up as an Adjunct Member. This gives you rights to use the Club facilities.

We have business house teams, family teams, mate’s teams and people who we make up into teams. We provide regular lawn bowls and kids over 12 years or so can manage them. Flat shoes, gym shoes or bare feet are a must to avoid damage to the greens.
